Perwanger Leather: The Perwanger Tannery is a reality of tanning, stemming from a family tradition spanning more than two centuries, a passion handed down from father to son for more than five generations since 1780. Born in the heart of the Alps, in the Aurer area (BZ), it began by tanning farmers' hides according to local tradition to supply the village shoemaker. In the early '70s, after lengthy trials and driven by his passion for mountain hiking, Josef Perwanger succeeded in making his leather water-repellent. Until then, mountaineers had to fatten their boots. This is how Nepal Perwanger's suede-like leather came into being. Thanks to its optimal water resistance and breathability, and a unique manufacturing process, Nepal Perwanger suede leather is now being used on a large scale in mountain, leisure and safety footwear.
