TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Product waterproofing

The waterproof qualities of the jacket were tested under rainfall for 3 hours.

This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy mountain storm.

Fabric waterproofing

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard).

The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.

Components with a 2,000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2,000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting 2 hours).

With a waterproof level of 15,000 mm, the jacket has a high level of waterproofing.

FABRIC BREATHABILITY

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability.

As a rule of thumb:

RET < 9 = very breathable fabric

9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric

RET > 12 = little breathability

The fabric of this jacket has a RET of 10

Hood

The large hood is designed to be worn over your cross-country skiing helmet. Designing products adapted to practising our sport is our main objective.

Height and depth settings let you adjust the volume according your needs (with or without a helmet)

A semi-rigid visor improves forehead and eye protection. The collar pulls up enough to give good face protection.

Pockets and zip fastenings

Outer jacket: 2 large pockets with waterproof zips. These pockets are big enough to store your skins. You also have a small secure pocket under the arm for a bank card or ski pass. Inner jacket: 1 zipped pocket to store your phone.

Pockets are located on the chest to allow for easy access when wearing a harness out on the glacier.

Ventilation

During your cross-country ski runs, you will often be extremely hot on the climb. If you want to keep your jacket on throughout then you can use the vents we have located under the arms. On the climb, open them as this is the best way to avoid perspiring too much. On the descent, don't forget to close them to stop the wind coming in and you getting cold.

Snow skirt

If you are lucky and want to make the most of a good amount of fresh snowfall during your cross-country ski run, then the snow skirt will be your ally. It will stop snow getting under the jacket and you getting wet. On the other hand, if there has been no snow for a few days then you won't need this snow skirt so you can easily remove it thanks to the zip.

You can do this as much as you like.

CARE ADVICE

Wash at 30°C. Use a liquid detergent and no fabric softener. Close the zips and wrist openings before machine washing the jacket. Restore the fabric's water-repellent properties using a suitable treatment with each wash. A complete range of products specifically designed for the maintenance of waterproof and breathable fabrics is available in all our Decathlon stores. This will maximise your garment’s performance for as long as you use it.

ERGONOMIC CUT

The jacket's lines were selected to give you the greatest comfort on your ski outings.

The jacket will be slightly loose so you can easily wear a light down jacket underneath as this model is a waterproof jacket without warm layer.

Preformed elbows to stop any discomfort when you move your arms. The hood follows your head movements perfectly and doesn't interfere with your field of vision.

RECCO® system

All our Freeride jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system.

With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Someone who is equipped with RECCO® reflectors and is buried in the snow can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker. RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.

Tutorial on how to wash your waterproof garment

We recommend that you follow these guidelines at every wash in order to retain all the technical features of your garment.
