Description

FABBRI GRINGO 400 mm mounting cable extensions, pair Genuine FABBRI accessory for GRINGO rear spare-wheel-mounted bike and ski carriers. These 400 mm extensions supplement the "Universal System" mounting cables when the spare wheel is too large for the standard cables provided. Sold in pairs. Description The patented "Universal System" mounting mechanism fits all rear-mounted spare wheels. However, for wheels exceeding a certain size—particularly on 4x4s and pickup trucks with wide or large-diameter tires—the standard cables do not allow for secure mounting. These extensions lengthen the cables, ensuring the carrier structure is securely attached. This 400 mm length applies to spare wheels for which the FABBRI calculation yields a result of 96 or higher. Which length should you choose? FABBRI provides a calculation method based solely on the dimensions marked on the spare tire's sidewall. Note the markings—for example, 225/70 R16—where 225 is the width in millimeters, 70 is the aspect ratio (series), and 16 is the rim diameter in inches. Then, add together three lengths (in millimeters) and divide the total by 10:

Rim diameter converted to millimeters: 16 x 25.4 = 406.4
Sidewall height: 225 x 70 ÷ 100 = 157.5
Tire width: 225
Total: 406.4 + 157.5 + 225 = 788.9; divided by 10 = 78.9, or 79 when rounded Match the rounded result against the FABBRI chart:
Up to 81: cables supplied with the bike carrier are sufficient; no extension needed
82 to 88: 250 mm extensions, Ref. 6950270
89 to 95: 300 mm extensions, Ref. 6950271
96 and above: 400 mm extensions, Ref. 6950272 The result is a calculation index, not a length to be measured on the vehicle. The calculation is based on the spare wheel actually mounted on the rear, with the tire inflated. If your tire has inch-based markings (e.g., 31x10.50 R15), this calculation does not apply; please contact us with the exact tire specifications. Specifications
Type: Spare wheel mounting cable extensions
Manufacturer part number: 6950272
Length: 400 mm
Packaging: Pair
Designed for the Universal System mounting system
Brand: FABBRI Compatibility
GRINGO BICI bike carrier, Ref. 6950251
GRINGO SKI ski carrier, Ref. 6950250 The length is selected based on the calculation result, not the vehicle model. Two vehicles of the same make may require different lengths if their spare wheels differ. Tips
Perform the calculation before ordering, using the spare wheel actually mounted on the vehicle.
Do not confuse these extensions (part numbers 69502xx) with the frame attachment cables (part numbers 62017xx), which secure the bike to the arms rather than the structure to the wheel.
Check the tightness before every trip, just as you would with the original cables. FAQ Do these extensions replace the original cables? No, they complement them. The cables supplied with the bike carrier remain in place. How do I know if I need them? By performing the calculation above using the markings on your spare tire. How many pieces are included? They are sold in pairs. Are they suitable for the GRINGO SKI? Yes, the spare wheel mounting system is identical on both models.
