Imagine settling down after a long day of hiking, surrounded by the quiet of the mountains or the fresh air of a remote campsite. The Sea to Summit Ascent -1C is designed for those who refuse to be boxed in by traditional sleeping bag constraints. This bag offers a unique blend of space and warmth, featuring a relaxed mummy shape that allows you to move freely without sacrificing thermal efficiency. Whether you are sleeping under a clear sky or sheltered in a tent, the Ascent provides the comfort you need to recover for the next day's journey. This freedom to move is essential for a deep, restorative sleep, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the miles ahead.
The true magic of this sleeping bag lies in its adaptability. Thanks to the Free-Flow triple-zip system, you can tailor your sleeping setup to the conditions outside. If the night is warm, unzip both sides and the foot box to turn the bag into a flat quilt, allowing for maximum airflow. On colder nights, zip everything up and cinch the oversized hood to trap every bit of body heat. The high-quality down insulation and thoughtful construction ensure you stay cozy, regardless of how the weather shifts during your adventure. This system is incredibly intuitive, allowing you to make quick adjustments in the middle of the night without any struggle, providing a seamless transition between different levels of warmth and ventilation.
Technically, the Ascent AcI is built to perform in varying climates. It features 750+ Loft Ultra-Dry Down, which has been treated to resist moisture. This is crucial for maintaining loft and warmth in damp conditions where untreated down might fail, such as during heavy morning dew or high humidity. The shell is made from lightweight 20D nylon, providing a soft touch while keeping the overall weight manageable for backpacking. Vertical chest baffles are strategically placed to prevent the down from shifting, ensuring that the insulation remains over your core where it is needed most. This prevents cold spots from forming and maximizes the thermal performance of the premium down fill. +1
The tapered rectangular shape provides significantly more room than a standard mummy bag, making it an excellent choice for side sleepers or those who find traditional bags too restrictive. The anatomically shaped footbox allows your feet to rest naturally without compressing the insulation, keeping your toes warm throughout the night. Furthermore, the inclusion of a large internal security pocket means your essential electronics, like your phone or headlamp, or other valuables are kept warm and within reach. By keeping batteries warm, you ensure they last longer in cold conditions. This combination of technical excellence and user-focused design makes the Ascent a reliable choice for multi-day expeditions.
