Carp Fishing Landing Nets FAQs

Which landing-net features help when handling larger carp?

Net depth, mesh construction and handle control all matter once a heavier fish reaches the margin. Caperlan uses fine fish-friendly mesh across several models, with selected netting made 30% stronger than earlier versions and higher-level nets built to hold carp above 30 kg. The carp fishing iconic flip over landing nets provide another option when you want a purpose-built landing system rather than adapting a general fishing net. Carbon components, reinforced arms and secure locking details can reduce unnecessary movement while guiding the fish. Keep the net fully supported in the water until you are ready to transfer the carp onto a prepared landing mat.

Why does careful handling matter when moving a large carp onto a landing mat?

Caperlan gives a specific handling method for heavy fish: leave the carp in the water, release the landing-net arms from the Y-head and lift using the arms and supported mesh rather than raising the fish by the handle. This reduces the load placed on the pole and gives you more control over the fish during the short transfer. A prepared mat is an important part of the wider carp fishing equipment setup, especially when larger fish are involved. Position the mat close to the water before landing the carp, wet every surface that will touch the fish and keep the transfer distance short. Avoid carrying a carp suspended inside a fully assembled landing net.

How can you maintain landing nets and fish-handling equipment after use?

Fish mucus, lake water and mud can remain on mesh, mats and weighing bags after a session, so rinse away residue and let every textile dry thoroughly before storage. Check carbon arms, locking joints, magnetic clips and handle sections for damage before folding the net away. Several Caperlan mats and weighing bags allow hand washing at up to 40 degrees Celsius, while tumble drying, ironing, bleaching and dry cleaning are excluded. Making these checks part of your regular carp fishing routine keeps fish-care equipment ready for immediate use on the next trip. Store hooks and lead weights separately so sharp or heavy tackle cannot damage fine mesh while everything is packed together.
