Walking Sunglasses

Walking Sunglasses FAQs

Which features matter most in walking sunglasses?

Good walking sunglasses should block UV, feel secure and suit the light conditions you walk in most often. A wraparound shape helps reduce side glare, wind and dust, while grippy arms and nose pads stop the frames slipping when you sweat. Lightweight frames also stay more comfortable over longer routes. To avoid strong glare on wet paths or open ground, try the polarised sports sunglasses.

Should children wear sunglasses on bright walks?

Children should wear proper sunglasses on bright walks because young eyes can be sensitive to UV exposure. Look for a secure fit, durable lenses and frames that sit comfortably on smaller faces. A strap can help keep them in place during family walks, play stops or windy conditions. Particularly for younger walkers, the kids' hiking sunglasses offer a practical fit for ages 6 to 10.

Which sunglasses suit walks with changing light?

Photochromic sunglasses are useful when a route moves between woodland shade, open paths and bright glare. The lenses darken in stronger sunlight and become clearer when the light drops, so one pair can handle mixed conditions more easily. This is helpful on longer walks where the weather or terrain changes often. When trying to simulate shifting light, use the photochromic sports sunglasses.

How do you keep walking sunglasses secure?

Walking sunglasses should sit firmly without pinching at the nose or temples. Grippy nose pads and arm tips help stop slipping on climbs, while a retainer cord can prevent drops if you push the glasses onto your head. A hard case also protects the lenses when the sunglasses are stored in a backpack. Lens cloths, cases and retainers sit under walking accessories.

How do you choose the right sunglasses lens tint?

Lens tint should match the brightness of your usual walking routes. Category 3 lenses suit most bright outdoor walks, while category 4 lenses are better for intense glare in mountains, near water or on open coastal paths. Polarised lenses can also reduce reflected glare from wet ground, roads and lakes. On everyday sunny walks, the adults' hiking sunglasses are a versatile option.
