Product Description
Replacing standard rim tape or rim strips, Caffélatex Tubeless Tape makes rims airtight by sealing the spoke holes. It allows for tubeless conversion of most bicycle wheels, using Tubeless or Tubeless-Ready tires, a Caffélatex tubeless valve, and Caffélatex sealant. Easy to use
Replacing standard rim tape or rim strips, Caffélatex Tubeless Tape makes rims airtight by sealing the spoke holes. It easily conforms to the internal rim profiles and, thanks to its low shape memory, it doesn't "pop out" once applied in the rim well, for increased stability. Its adhesion is state-of-the-art.
High-quality tape
Caffélatex Tubeless Tape is not your average "multi-purpose" tape. Made with polyester instead of common PVC, Caffélatex Tubeless Tape is lightweight, thin, and highly resistant to damage and pressure. Its special adhesive doesn't have the immediate "tick" of the green rubber-based glues used in cheaper tapes, but it develops a stronger bond over time and is much more tolerant of temperature and humidity changes, as well as aging.
Super lightweight
At Effetto Mariposa, we're not obsessed with lightness, but we do love lightweight pieces. Caffélatex Tubeless Tape has earned a reputation as the perfect complement to ultralight wheels: in size M, it adds only 5.5g to a 29" mountain bike wheel!
Installation Tips
Before applying the Caffélatex Tubeless Tape to the inside of the rim, thoroughly clean the rim well with a degreaser and a clean cloth, removing all traces of grease or lubricant. Remove any remaining dried degreaser with a clean, dry cloth.
Applying the Tape
Start applying the Caffélatex Tubeless Tape 2cm before the valve hole. Our tape is flexible but has low stretch, so it will conform to surfaces but will only marginally change in length/width when stretched. This is an advantage, as stretched tape tends to shift and return to its original size over time, breaking the adhesive bond.
Keep the Caffélatex Tubeless Tape taut while Apply the tape by first adhering it to the center of the rim well, ensuring no bubbles or creases appear. Use a single layer for off-road applications (up to 4 bar) and two for road use (up to 8 bar). Continue around the entire circumference, always focusing on the center of the rim well, until you extend 2 cm beyond the valve: this creates a double (for off-road) or triple (for road) 4 cm layer over the valve. If possible, avoid any contact between your fingers and the last section of the tape to maximize adhesion on the most exposed part of the tape.
Only then, using a clean cloth, press the tape onto the sides of the rim well, all the way around. This will ensure perfect adhesion.
Use a sharp point or a screwdriver to make a round hole in the Caffélatex Tubeless Tape at the valve hole.
