The manual sharpener can be used to correct blades when they have an imperfection or snag. However, it is not a substitute for machine sharpening.

Instructions for use.

When using, take care to ensure the blade is in contact with both sides at the same time to ensure straight, even sharpening.
Slide the sharpener along the blade from the front towards the back (maximum of 3 times).
