TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

A comfortable, practical snow hiking fleece

With its loose fit and stretch panels under the arms, this fleece will give you the freedom of movement you need when hiking in the snow. The zipped pockets keep everything that needs to be at hand safe (tissues, lip salve, gloves, keys...). The water-repellent hood means your fleece jacket is ultra-warm and ideal for hiking in very cold weather.

Can I be sure that my fleece is warm enough for my winter hikes?

The inside of your fleece is brushed – a tried and tested method for retaining heat. The principle is simple: the component knit is structured to add volume to trap air, which is naturally insulating. It is exactly the same principle as animal fur or feathers. This fleece jacket also has cuffs at the bottom of the sleeves and a tightening at the waist to limit the amount of cold air that gets in.

What is the fleece component and why is it so warm?

Fleece fabric with synthetic fibres to reproduce the performance of wool: warmth, thermal insulation yet still lightweight. It is soft, comfortable, dries quickly and lets the skin to breathe.

Is a soft and pleasant component fragile?

To ensure the durability of our products, we perform tests on components. For example, we check that the fleeces do not pill, that colours do not run and that repeated washing does not affect the properties of the fabric.

The abrasion resistance of a fabric is measured by a test called the Martindale test. This machine rubs a sample of the fabric on a reference surface with a weight at the end.

How to dress properly for snow hiking?

To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend using the 3-layer principle:

layer 1: The high-tech base layer transfers moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry.

layer 2: The second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and transfers moisture outwards.

layer 3: The jacket protects you from the outdoor conditions: rain, snow, wind.

The whole outfit must be breathable in order to eliminate moisture.
