TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

NEW EDR PROGRAMME

EDR stands for EnDuRance. The EDR is the new dedicated line of performance bikes from Van Rysel.

Don't get "endurance" confused with "speed". This is the challenge our design team had to tackle.

The EDR frame is the perfect solution for all competitors who want a bike that's just as at ease in the high mountains as it is on mixed terrain.

Its perfect combination of rigidity, lightness and comfort will see you toppling all of your previous records.

EDR FRAME AND FORK

Weighing in at 890 grammes (gross, in size M), the EDR frame and its fork are a cocktail of high modulus fibres offering excellent rigidity that you'll feel every single time you need a burst of speed.

Fork weight: 382 g

The orientation of the fibres has been calculated to satisfy the most demanding climbers and racers taking on hilly routes and high-mountain terrain. It perfectly meets the needs of top-level riders and the pro peloton.

Press-fit 86 bottom bracket and Di2 compatible frame.

SRAM RIVAL GROUPSET AND QUARQ POWER METER

This bike comes with a SRAM RIVAL ETAP AXS full groupset with QUARQ power meter. Power meters are a must for cyclists who want to plan their training and get faster and stronger.

Total drivetrain weight: 3045 g with power meter

The electronic groupset has two separate batteries (one for each derailleur). Use the SRAM Connect app to configure your bike and view your ride data.

DISC BRAKES

SRAM RIVAL disc brake with 160 mm front rotors and 140 mm rear rotors.

The SRAM RIVAL disc brakes are hydraulic to bring you more powerful, progressive braking than with hydro/mechanical brakes.

You'll need to bed them in. To do this, brake 20 times at a low speed (20 km/h), squeezing progressively harder, then repeat at 30 km/h. Remember to bed in both brakes.

Bedding in helps the brake pad to grip the rotor.

DRIVETRAIN CARE

It's really important that you regularly service your drivetrain, particularly if you're riding in tough conditions (wet and/or dirty roads)

Regular maintenance will keep your drivetrain working properly for longer.

You can find a tool to check your chain

on our website.

DRIVETRAIN LIFESPAN

When buying a bike and considering your choice of drivetrain, it's important to think about the cost of maintenance.

The numbers below are averages and shown to give you a general idea. They'll vary significantly depending on how well you maintain your drivetrain.

The average lifespan of a well-maintained chain is 5000 km

The average lifespan of a cassette is 10 000-12 000 km

Failure to maintain your chain could lead to chain jumps, which can damage your frame.

BRAKE MAINTENANCE

Hydraulic brakes have a closed circuit between your brake shifter and caliper.

A hose keeps this circuit sealed.

Over time, the hose will lose some pressure, leading to less efficient braking. If your brakes feel too soft as you squeeze them or the levers end up touching the handlebar, you need to bleed your system. This requires specific tools and specialist knowledge.

WARNING AND ADJUSTMENT

WARNING: never squeeze the brakes without the wheels in place as the pads could get stuck together.

If the rotor is touching the pad, you'll need to realign your wheel and caliper:

- Unscrew the wheel axle

- Brake hard and tighten the wheel at the same time

- If the rotor is still rubbing, do the same thing but loosening the caliper instead

- If that doesn't solve the problem, please visit a store for help.
