TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Sole Balance Movement

The Sole Balance Movement technology combines a rigid sole designed to reduce fatigue with a raised sole at the forefoot. This follows the foot's natural movement, making walking comfortable even over long periods of time.

Heel Guard Concept

The Heel Guard Concept serves two purposes: it provides lateral stability to the heel to enhance safety and offer more comfort while walking, it also protects the shoes from wear due to repeated contact with rocky surfaces.

Mountain Lacing System

The Mountain Lacing System is based on a new kind of self-locking mechanism, located at the instep. This differentiates the tightness of the laces between the lower and upper part of the boots. This self-locking mechanism is not a protruding hook, which means that it does not get caught up in the laces of the other boot.

Field tests.

In addition to fitting tests (comfort and sizing), all boots in the Bionnassay range (men's, women's, classic and light), have been tested by mountain hikers on over 1,500 km of trails and for over 500 hours. All told, during these tests, the Bionnassay (Light) boots will have covered more than 65,000 m of vertical gain and descent.

Long testing period.

Many pairs of Bionnassay and Bionnassay Light boots have likewise been tested over a long period of time by numerous mountain professionals (including mountain guides and rangers).

Waterproofing tests.

Quechua has conducted lab tests together with Novadry® to ensure Bionnassay boots are waterproof. First step: the boots are filled with compressed air and then plunged into water. We check that no air bubbles appear on the surface of the boots. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking (8000 flexes), and are half immersed in water (8 cm deep) so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

Lab tests.

Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, accelerated ageing.

Laces.

Sold with two pairs of laces: red and black.

Buying guide.

Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking.

Avoid all pressure points when trying them on.
Don't hesitate to walk around the store.
Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
