Skill level: Advanced/professional
The Adidas Metalbone HRD 3.2 is for players with an aggressive backhand and a powerful, determined playing style. This racket won't suit all players or all skill levels: you'll need to have certain technical skills to get the most from it. But if you're an intermediate player looking for maximum power, this racket is for you.
Playing style: Power
Adidas has created one of the most powerful rackets on the market thanks to the diamond shape and high balance (for a heavier feel) plus the density of the EVA High Memory foam (one of the highest densities in the collection). This combination of features will add more power to every shot.
Balance: top
This is the racket balance point, measured in millimetres from the bottom of the racket handle.
The larger the number (head-heavy balance), the more power and stability you'll get from the racket and the heavier it will feel (even if it's not a heavy racket). However, you'll have to give up some manoeuvrability. The smaller the number (grip biased or handle heavy), the easier the racket will be to handle, but the less power and stability you'll get.
Head size: 485 cm²
This is the surface area of the racket head size measured in squared centimetres. It has an impact on the racket's forgiveness and power. The larger the head size, the more powerful and forgiving the racket is. The downside is less control. Conversely, the smaller the racket's head size, the greater the feeling of control, but the less powerful and forgiving it will be.
Weight: 360 g +/- 12 g
The weight is measured in grams. Just like the balance point, the weight impacts a racket's swingweight and therefore its manoeuvrability, stability and ability to transfer energy to the ball (power). The heavier the racket, the more power you'll get, but the harder it will be to handle. Conversely, the lighter the racket, the easier it will be to handle, but the less powerful it will be.
External material: 2-to-1 aluminised carbon
The 2-to-1 aluminised carbon fibres are less elastic than those found in other carbon fibre rackets, which creates a more rigid surface for more power.
Internal material: EVA High Memory
This foam has excellent vibration dampening and rapid recovery capacities for better ball rebound.
Weight & Balance technology
This technology involves a system of six removable screws on the racket bridge. You can add or remove screws to raise or lower the weight.
If you leave the screws in, the balance of your Metalbone racket will be at the mid- to lower end of the racket, giving you better control. If you remove the screws, you'll lower the weight for a higher balance (up to 1.5 cm) to give you an offensive edge.
Octagonal Structure technology
The Octagonal Structure technology is found in the Metalbone frame and throat. A carbon tube with eight edges reinforces the frame structure for more rigidity and resistance to twisting. This gives you incredible power and an extraordinary feeling of consistency, which is perfect for players with an aggressive playing style.
Octagonal Spin Blade technology
The Octagonal Spin Blade technology is made from a 3D pattern integrated into the racket's mould. It creates an optimal feeling of contact and optimises spin with every shot.
Smart Holes Curve technology
The holes have been specifically laid out to give you more spin.
