By attaching one end of a barbell, also called a barbell, to a rotating and fixed point, many new (diagonal) possibilities suddenly arise.
The bridge from 2-dimensional to 3-dimensional training is crossed, allowing a greater number of total body exercises to be added to the existing arsenal. Single-leg training, which is important to correct any imbalance and prevent future injuries, is made easier via the barbell pivot trainer. Because the barbell is fixed on one side, this provides more stability than maneuvering loose (light) weights due to the resulting instability.
The core muscles are heavily trained with anti-flexion, anti-extension, anti-lateral flexion, and anti-rotation resistance, another aspect in which the barbell pivot trainer excels. Because the center of gravity falls outside the base of support during pivot training, one can still heavily load the core due to the relative stability.
