Product Description
The biggest change is the completely new cam design, named Triple Grip. Firstly, they are significantly wider, increasing the contact area between the cam and the crack. Secondly, the anodization has been removed from the top edge of the cams, allowing for smoother placements from the first use. Thirdly, each cam is now more densely grooved both transversely and longitudinally. As a result, Dragons have three times more contact points with the rock than competing cams and are less likely to walk during placement. The cams are made from a harder aluminum alloy, ensuring they withstand years of use in the rocks and mountains. One of the most recognized features of the Dragons is the adjustable length tape - depending on the placement, distance from the route, or amount of gear, it can be shortened or lengthened. Simple yet brilliant! The loop is made from 8 mm Dyneema, with edges dyed to match the cam colors. A single, flexible trigger? Yes! A wide, grooved thumb grip? Absolutely. A comfortable trigger that can be operated even with gloves? Of course! Smooth trigger action, even in very low temperatures? You got it! Thanks to these features, Dragons are loved by climbers worldwide. With the cams mounted on two axes, they can be used in two ways - actively (like regular friends) and passively (placing them fully open like classic nuts, e.g., Wallnuts). This is done without compromising strength, which is an impressive 14 kN (active and passive for sizes 1 and above; sizes 00 and 0 withstand 9 and 12 kN passively, respectively; size 00 also 10 kN actively). The cam angle is a timeless 13.75°. With the full range of Dragons from 00 to 8, we have coverage for cracks ranging from 14 to 195 mm. The successive sizes overlap by about 20-25%, making it easier to find the right cam for your chosen crack. Thanks to the use of high-quality aluminum and the production of individual components through hot forging and CNC machining, the cams maintain surprisingly low weight, even for the largest sizes designed for wide cracks and offwidths, models 7 and 8. DMM, wanting to speed up the process of finding the right cam size, decided to anodize the side walls of the cams. Besides the visual aspect, this process also enhances the durability of the cams. The aluminum surface gains corrosion and mechanical protection, which is particularly appreciated during climbing on cliffs. Moreover, the colors match the other DMM nuts, and the manufacturer also offers carabiners anodized in the colors of the Dragons - making it easier than ever to find the right size for your climbing needs.
