Internal volume.
The volume of air inside the mask, between the face and the lens, represents the internal volume.
For freedivers and spearfishers, the internal volume of the mask must be minimised to facilitate equalisation.
Thanks to its ultra-small internal volume, the Beuchat Shark mask greatly reduces the amplitude of the equalisation manoeuvres required.
Equalisation
The mask gets pressed against the face when diving down. As you dive, pressure gets applied to the mask’s flexible skirt, reducing the internal volume and pressing the mask against the face. This phenomenon, which can cause pain in the eyes, can be avoided by equalising the internal pressure of the mask and the external pressure exerted by the water. Simply breathe out gently through your nose. Air is very valuable in under water sports, so this equalising effect must be kept to a minimum.

Silicone
Silicone skirt provides a good seal. Its grained surface prevents fingers from slipping when putting on and equalising.
The overmoulding on this ’frameless’ mask gives it a good grip for easy adjustment and protects it from impacts

The strapping has been designed to offer very low resistance to water. This optimal hydrodynamics is appreciated both when freediving and when moving on the surface.
