Kids' Running Mid Tight FAQs

What are kids' running mid tights used for?

Kids' running mid tights provide a close fit for warm-weather running, athletics lessons and competitions. Stretch fabric follows sprinting, jumping and throwing movements without the loose material found in conventional shorts. ... Mid tights provide more coverage than short shorts while keeping a close fit for unrestricted movement during running and athletics. KIPRUN's two Decathlon-developed models focus on moisture transfer, flexible movement and simple storage. Children who prefer more airflow and a relaxed shape can compare kids' loose shorts. Pro tip: ask the child to complete high knees, lunges and short accelerations to confirm that the fabric remains comfortable during the movements used in athletics.

What is the ideal fit for kids' running mid tights?

The waistband should remain secure without restricting breathing or leaving deep pressure marks around the stomach. Close-fitting fabric should follow the hips and thighs while allowing a full stride, squat and knee lift. Check that the lower hems do not dig into the legs or roll upwards during movement. The KIPRUN Run 900 adds an adjustable drawcord and non-slip lower-leg finish to improve stability during faster sessions. Pair the bottoms with lightweight kids' running tops that do not bunch heavily over the waistband. Choose size using the individual product guide rather than age alone, as children of the same age can have different heights and body proportions.

What is the difference between KIPRUN DRY and Run 900 tight shorts?

KIPRUN DRY provides a straightforward entry-level option with polyester-elastane fabric, moisture management and a small internal key pocket. It suits school athletics and regular running when the child needs simple stretch and close-fitting coverage. Run 900 uses a stretch-rich polyamide construction and adds two pockets, including a zipped compartment, an adjustable waistband and non-slip leg openings. It weighs approximately 103 g in the stated children's size despite the additional storage and support features. Compare these constructions with other kids' running shorts according to fit, pocket requirements and activity level.

Do breathable running mid tights help children stay comfortable?

Synthetic technical fabric moves perspiration through the material so it can spread and dry more readily than ordinary cotton. This helps reduce the heavy, damp feeling that can develop during warm athletics sessions. Stretch also limits restrictive pulling around the hips and thighs while the child runs, jumps or changes direction. Decathlon tested the entry KIPRUN model with 12 children during a two-hour athletics session, while young runners of different levels assessed the Run 900 in laboratory and track conditions. For cooler weather or greater coverage, compare kids' running tights. Children should change out of damp clothing soon after training so they do not become cold during recovery or travel.

How should kids' running mid tights be washed and layered?

Wash the KIPRUN models at no more than 30 degrees and avoid tumble drying, ironing, bleaching or dry cleaning. High heat can affect elastane, waist stability and the close-fitting shape. Empty the pockets, loosen the drawcord and wash the garment with similar lightweight sports clothing. Avoid fabric softener because it can leave a coating on technical fibres and interfere with moisture transfer. Air dry the tights fully before storing them in a ventilated place. In cooler or windy conditions, add suitable kids' running jackets over a breathable outfit rather than replacing technical layers with heavy cotton clothing. Check the waistband, hems and pocket seams regularly when the garment is used frequently for school sport or club training.
