Cross Country Skiing:

Cross country skiing is a form of skiing that takes place on flat terrain or even moderate hills. The skis used for this type of skiing are usually thin and lightweight with metal edges to help grip the snow. Cross country skis require more energy than other types of skiing as they rely on the skier to propel themselves forward.

Alpine Skis:

Alpine skis are the most popular type of skis and are used for downhill skiing. Alpine skis have thick bodies with metal edges that allow them to grip onto hard surfaces such as ice. They also come in varying widths depending on the style you prefer; wider skis provide more stability while narrower skis are easier to turn.

Ski Touring:

Ski touring involves traveling uphill on cross-country style equipment before descending down using alpine style technique. Ski touring requires specialized equipment such as wider, flatter skis that have metal edges, skins (to prevent slipping backwards), and bindings to hold your feet in place while climbing hillsides.

Downhill Skiing:

Downhill skiing involves taking a lift up a mountain before descending down on slopes with varying types of terrain such as steeps, bumps, and jumps. Downhill ski equipment includes stiffer alpine skis with metal edges and sturdy boots designed for control when descending at speed.

Freestyle Skiing:

Freestyle skiing is characterized by performing tricks while navigating through terrain parks containing jumps, rails, boxes and half-pipes. The best freestyle ski equipment allows for maneuverability when performing tricks and landings in the air; boots should be flexible yet supportive enough while landing jumps.

Freeride Skiing:

Freeride skiing is similar to downhill but instead focuses on less groomed terrain such as backcountry powder stashes where there may be natural features like drops, kickers or cliffs that require specific skills to maneuver around safely. The best freeride ski equipment includes wider alpine ski models with rockered tips allowing them to float better in deep powder; stiffer soles will also help keep your feet firmly planted during descents!
