Brass Lines and Rigged Lines FAQs

How do pre-tied hook lengths make sea fishing easier?

Pre-tied hook lengths save you from measuring leader line and tying every hook at the water.... Caperlan matches the hook, leader diameter and rig style for particular sea baits, then adds a large loop that makes attaching the leader to a swivel simpler. The shore fishing spade end hooks use a Wishbone arrangement with two hooks positioned close together for wider crab baits. Each hook is tied to a 150 cm fluorocarbon leader, with sizes from 1/0 on 35/100 line to size 4 on 28/100 line. This gives you a ready bait presentation while still letting you choose a hook-and-leader combination that suits your target fish.

What can a floating bead add to a pre-tied sea fishing rig?

A floating bead can lift the bait slightly and give it a more natural movement rather than leaving every presentation sitting directly on the bottom. Caperlan's stainless steel eyed hooks to line with floating beads use a 12 mm fluorescent yellow bead with a 150 cm snood. The long-shank hook also makes worms easier to thread, while fluorocarbon keeps the leader less conspicuous underwater. Sizes are paired with different leaders, including a size 2 hook on 30/100 line and size 6 on 26/100 line. Use this type of rig when you want buoyancy and added visual attraction without assembling the components separately.

How do winders help organise brass lines and rigged lines for shore fishing?

Prepared brass lines and rigged lines can quickly tangle when they are placed loose in a tackle box, especially when several hooks, swivels and sinkers sit together. Caperlan's shore fishing winders give each prepared rig its own winding surface. Openings in the foam hold swivels and sinkers, while notches at the ends secure the line after you wrap it around the winder. The foam is deliberately rigid enough to resist bending during winding, and the size 1 version measures 150 x 40 x 12 mm. Keeping different brass lines and rigged lines on separate winders also makes it easier to identify the setup you need and change rigs without untangling several assemblies during a session.

How do you match pre-tied hooks and leaders to different sea baits?

Start with the bait because its shape and size affect the hook pattern you need. Long-shank hooks make worms easier to thread, Wishbone rigs place two hooks across broader crab baits, and reversed hooks use an offset point that can help the hook take hold when a fish picks up the bait. Caperlan also pairs different hook sizes with appropriate leader diameters rather than using a single thickness for every rig. When building a wider shore fishing setup, keep several prepared combinations available so you can respond to changes in bait or target species. Check that the leader, hook and main rig work together, rather than choosing the hook solely by its numbered size.

What is the best way to store pre-tied rigs after sea fishing?

Dry, organised storage helps protect hooks and leaders and makes them easier to reuse on your next trip. Remove damaged or badly kinked hook lengths rather than winding them back into your tackle, then place reusable rigs neatly onto foam winders so hooks and leaders remain separated. Caperlan advises keeping its pre-tied hooks in a dry place, and storage accessories also benefit from a dry, ventilated area after a damp session. Inspect hook points for damage and check leaders for abrasion before packing them away. This routine is particularly useful for tackle used regularly in saltwater fishing, where moisture and salt residue can remain around metal components and terminal connections after you leave the shore.
