Just because you’re on holiday in a tent or a bivouac shelter, that doesn’t mean you don’t want to curl up next to someone! This simple observation has led our teams to develop an innovative product with many special features you’re going to love; it will quickly become one of your must-pack items! Why invent a double sleeping bag?

As is often the case, we got the idea at a team brainstorming session following feedback from customers on their camping experiences with their single-person sleeping bags. They told us that the insulation was just right, the size was compact, the bags were lightweight and perfectly comfortable… apart from the forced separation from their loved one, also trapped inside their own sleeping bag.

The team responded to this observation by asking whether it wouldn’t be possible to keep all the benefits of the Decathlon sleeping bag, but in the form of a double sleeping bag. The technical teams set to work to create prototypes that led to this product – the double sleeping bag – which is now a firm favourite among camping couples and even solo campers. They tell us that they’re very happy with the comfort levels. We won’t go into details about the comfort experienced by camping couples, but we’re happy to talk about the feedback from solo campers who say they feel very comfortable, just as if they were in a double bed.

A double sleeping bag: an innovative product

This product wasn’t designed for use in the glacial cold of the Himalayas, but it’s able to keep you warm at temperatures from 0°C to 10 °C. That means you can easily camp in the countryside or even in the mountains in Ireland. The double sleeping bag is easy to use because of its full-length zip. You can open it up completely if you wish. That means it can be used as a duvet for all your everyday uses, including at home. Its dimensions of 190 cm x 144 cm are equivalent to a double bed: you won’t feel out of place, and you’ll be in a space that you’re used to. This bag has the advantage of fitting into a very small space once folded. It is stored in a highly practical zipped carrying bag. The double sleeping bag has a very comfortable fleece, keeping you warm on cold nights but not being stuffy on warmer nights.
