The universal bit combines vocal pressure and leverage and is ideal for those who need a little more control. The durable, double-jointed rubber mouthpiece with copper pastille offers a higher level of comfort in the horse's mouth. The copper pellets help distribute pressure on the tongue and bars of the mouth, encouraging bite and contact. They also help prevent pinching of the lips and mouth bars, while reducing the nutcracker effect of a single-jointed bit. Ideal for horses that need a little more braking power but may be sensitive in the mouth.
Also known at nom as the continental bit, it works by lifting the bit into the horse's mouth in the same way as a traditional gag, but without the same severity. Probing pressure can be applied using the lower rings. A gentler option than the three-ring Dutch gag, this bit is ideal for cavaliers who need a little more control when jumping or doing work rapide, but don't need massive pressure on the back of the neck.
