DoubleTap:
- What it is: DoubleTap® is the flagship technology of the road gruppo revolution from SRAM. It's a simple, elegant and advanced system that solves problems without compromising performance, comfort and weight with a revolutionary shift/brake design.
- What it does: DoubleTap® makes shifting easier and faster, eliminating the cumbersome and awkward engagement associated with two-lever systems. DoubleTap lets you shift in and out of gear in one short, fluid motion with minimal effort and maximum comfort, regardless of your position on the handlebars.
- How it works: DoubleTap® uses two pawls, one to hold the ratchet wheel and one to move it up and down when shifting. The pawls are arranged so that they can move relative to each other depending on the distance and pressure you apply to the shifter. The transport pawl (04) moves the ratchet wheel (02) up through the gear range with short, quick presses. Downshifting is accomplished by a longer sweep of the lever (in the same inward direction as upshifting, but at an ergonomically optimized 15° angle), with the holding pawl (03) and the transport pawl following each other quickly and smoothly.
- Location: DoubleTap's single-motion unidirectional levers (05) work perfectly, no matter which position you change from. Its double-jointed design (01), which is completely separate from the brake pivot, engages easily from hoods or troughs. Unlike all other front controls, DoubleTap® also lets you pull the shifter against the handlebars, so you can shift up during a sprint or attack without giving up a firm grip.
- Divide and conquer: On DoubleTap® controls, the brake and shift levers are completely independent, each operating with its own pivot point. This not only allows for multi-position functionality, but also eliminates the risk of inadvertently engaging the brakes or gears-an unfortunate side effect of other shifter/brake designs.
- What this means for you: The efficient, ergonomic design reduces weight and eliminates clutter while adding comfort. You can shift from any position on the handlebars, even while sprinting, giving you a decisive advantage over your competitors. Our new single-lever mechanism also lets you shift faster, easier and more precisely, without the risk of losing speed or grip. DoubleTap® is the cornerstone of SRAM 's road bike offensive. It's a new way of shifting and a new way of thinking that will give you a leg up on the c
