If you look closely, you'll see that the Perfetto RoS 2 jacket is actually a long-sleeved version of the Gabba RoS 2. So is it just a warmer version of the Gabba model? Not really. Its long sleeves make it a jacket, but suitable for a wide range of conditions. As with the Gabba, the RoS badge means it excels in dry conditions thanks to its high breathability, but also in wet conditions thanks to Castelli's exclusive Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper® fabric. The front features a lightweight, waterproof fleece-lined fabric, while the back is made of a lighter, more elastic fabric that optimizes breathability while providing excellent water repellency. The Perfetto RoS 2 jacket keeps you protected from the wind while being much more breathable than the polyurethane membranes typically used on most jackets that try to compete with it. When you stay drier, you don't need to wear many layers underneath. The beauty of this jacket is that it doesn't have any insulation on its own, so a thin base layer will be great for mild temperatures, while adding an insulating layer (a thermal jersey or Castelli's Alpha second layer) will get you through the cold. The choice is yours. The "2" in the name refers to upgrades that were made to the latest version, including a YKK® Vislon® zipper that opens from the top and bottom for more adjustable ventilation. The reflective part in the back is more visible, the seam at the top of the shoulders has been moved to the back, and the three pockets can accommodate more stuff. While the Perfetto remains a decidedly performance-oriented piece, the new version offers a little more room in the chest, shoulders and biceps.
