The indication is for example '48-52' for S (depending on the model). To measure head circumference, position a measuring tape or string just above the eyebrows at the point where the circumference is largest, going around the head. Since a cycling helmet should not be too tight and each helmet has an adjustment system, one can choose the helmet size (S, M, L, XL...) up to 1cm larger for a comfortable fit.
