How to apply
Start by cleaning your leather with glycerine soap. The oil should always be applied to clean, dry leather. Apply the product with a brush or cloth, ensuring a thin, even coat. Allow the leather to absorb the oil for several hours, or even a full day, away from direct sunlight and heat. Remove the excess with a clean cloth.
Leather care steps
It's important to care for your leather products in the right way and with the right products to keep them in good shape for years to come. This oil is used in step 3:
1. Soap: Deep cleaning.
2. Cream: Light cleaning and moisturising.
3. Grease or oil: Nutrition and protection.
Rich products for deep nourishment. They nourish the leather and improve its water resistance. Apply monthly or as needed, depending on the condition of the leather.
When to use the oil?
It can be used:
- On new leather: To soften it and give it a first layer of protection before use.
- On very dry or ‘neglected’ leather: To regenerate it after a long period without care or exposure to adverse conditions (heavy rain, dry storage).
- During periodic care: Generally, once or twice a year (for example, before and after winter) is sufficient for equipment that is otherwise regularly maintained.
Usage precautions
Please note: Do not use too much oil! Excessive or too frequent application can ‘drown’ the leather, excessively relax the fibres, soften the seams and weaken it in the long term. For routine care, use glycerine soap, cream and balm or grease.
Furthermore, it can darken certain types of leather (particularly light or natural leathers). Always test the oil on a hidden part of the saddle (the underside of a saddle flap, for example) to check the visual effect.
