Recommended knots between your braided line and fluorocarbon leader
Depending on the braid and fluorocarbon diameters that you want to connect, we recommend using:
- the Grinner Double knot for connecting diameters close together
- the FG knot or the Albright knot for connecting diameters a long way apart
The heat caused by friction can deteriorate the resistance of fluorocarbon, so we advise you to moisten your knots.

Fluorocarbon for extreme conditions
Ideal for fishing in demanding areas, this fluorocarbon excels in heavy cover: rocks, dead wood, shells or submerged structures. Its dense structure provides excellent resistance to friction and to the sharp teeth of predators such as pike. Its controlled rigidity reduces tangles and keeps the leader aligned, even during powerful casts with heavy lures.
Understanding the limits of rigid fluorocarbon
Its stiffness provides strength but may restrict the swimming action of certain lures that require more freedom of movement. Being more rigid, it can sometimes retain the shape of the spool, which may affect the subtlety of the presentation. Knots also require a little more care to ensure good holding power. For rigs requiring flexibility and discretion, choose our 100% Fluorocarbon SOFT (ref. 8978545), which is more flexible and versatile.
Recommended uses
Mainly intended for making leaders for fishing for powerful predators or species with sharp teeth (pike, large bass, exotic fish) or for very abrasive environments. Perfect for bigbait, jerkbait or heavy-jig fishing.
