Pay attention to the tyre size (new ETRTO standard)
The tyre width depends on the rim width. The size indicated is defined by the ETRTO standard, which standardises the dimensions of all tyres on the market.Current tyre models are designed to reach their nominal width on wider rims that comply with the latest ETRTO standards. The Lithion 4 in 700Ă—28 will measure 28 mm when mounted on a rim with an internal width of 22 mm.On narrower rims, the tyre will also be narrower.
How to measure tyre wear?
To measure the wear on your road tyres and to know when they need replacing, you need to inspect the tread. Signs of wear include:
- tread starting to fray
- the appearance of a series of micro cracks
- low tread depth
- the carcass becomes visible.
In all these cases the tyre is worn and needs replacing.
How to inflate your tyre correctly
Inflate the tyre with caution.
The recommended pressure is indicated on the tyre's sidewall and its product sheet (available online).
Before each outing, make sure that your tyres are at the correct pressure for your ride.
Pro advice:
During inflation, it is important to obtain the right pressure depending on the terrain and especially depending on the weather.
If you ride in rainy weather, feel free to lower the tire pressure to increase its grip.
When riding in dry weather, you can increase the pressure for better performance.
