This versatile carbon road wheel is perfect for cyclists looking for the ideal balance between weight, aerodynamics, and efficiency. The new spokes and hubs give the Cosmic SL 40 a feeling of lightness and liveliness on climbs and during accelerations.
The rim is designed with a NACA profile that has a depth of 40 mm and a width of 26 mm, specifically designed for versatile performance on flat or hilly terrain. The new rim bed shape makes it easier than ever to fit tubeless tires and tires with inner tubes. Riding with UST Tubeless means there’s no inner tube, so no friction, and more air volume leads to a smoother ride. The result is faster riding with very low rolling resistance.
The refined spokes make this pair of wheels 80 g lighter than its predecessor, the Cosmic Pro Carbon UST. Paired with our all-new Infinity hub platform, which gives them a feel of speed and responsiveness in every corner, they are stiffer and more efficient.
The Cosmic SL 40 is specifically designed for rim brakes. Our proven iTgMax technology includes a patented laser treatment of the braking surface which reduces braking distance in dry and wet conditions, while a special layering and heat treatment process makes it the strongest and most durable carbon rim of all rim brake rims. They are available for Shimano cassettes and can be converted for Campagnolo and SRAM XD-R with optional freehub bodies.
These wheels are designed, manufactured, and patented by Mavic in Annecy, France, and are 100% handmade in our European carbon factory.
