Construction and Materials

The SUMMIT EVO ice axe combines a hot forged steel blade and head to ensure solid and durable anchors, a stainless steel tip for effective penetration in hard snow, and a 7075 aluminum shaft (used in aerospace) with anodized finish for excellent wear protection.

Ergonomics and Maneuverability

The hydro-formed shaft is curved at the top for good clearance in climbing and straighter at the bottom for effective penetration in snow. This technical profile ensures a secure grip and good control in cane or ramp mode.

Anchoring Performance

The fine (3 mm) serrated blade tip allows for excellent grip in hard snow and ice, while a thicker center promotes grip in soft snow. The upper teeth enhance hold during use in ramp mode.

Durability and Practical Functions

The very strong adze provides a comfortable support surface and a design with edges for effective step cutting. The inclined adze guides the axe in cane mode. The head and tip are drilled for attaching a carabiner or sling.
