Life jacket
This automatic life jacket has 165 Newtons of buoyancy, putting it in the 150N class, and is certified according to DIN EN ISO 12402-3.
It is equipped with a textile harness (also called a lifebelt) and approved for use with safety belts and safety lines according to DIN EN ISO 12401. This textile harness has the advantage over the conventional stainless steel D-ring that it is lighter and does not cause annoying noises in action, without compromising safety.
The release mechanism used here is the UML (United Moulders) release mechanism.
This life jacket inflates automatically on contact with water. In addition, manual inflation is possible at any time. After inflation, the pressure in the buoyancy chamber can be manually adjusted via a valve. Provided there is no damage, the life jacket can be reused after inflation without manufacturer maintenance. For this purpose, the COâ‚‚ cartridge and the release mechanism (together the so-called maintenance kit) are replaced.
It is important to ensure that the correct maintenance kit is purchased, in particular the weight of the COâ‚‚ cartridge is crucial. This life jacket requires a 33g cartridge and a UML release mechanism, both included in this maintenance kit:

There is only one size (one-size) for this life jacket. It is suitable for people weighing 40-150 kg and with a chest circumference of 55-140 cm. The harness is highly adjustable and can therefore be adapted to individual body shapes.
This life jacket is equipped with a simple crotch strap and signal whistle. However, a sprayhood and SOLAS light are not included.
The 12skipper vest is produced by Plastimo in Europe.
The first service is due 24 months after delivery (invoice date). An additional service sticker on the life jacket has been deliberately omitted.
The vest is shipped fully ready for use, including COâ‚‚ cartridge and release mechanism.
Lifeline
The 12skipper lifeline with two safety karabiners included in the set serves as a secure connection between the life jacket with harness and a fixed point on board. The two self-locking karabiners allow for quick and secure attachment and increase safety when working on deck.
