Sand has a higher density than water, making the basketball hoop more stable when filled with sand, although it will be less easy to move. Compared to sand, water has some disadvantages: it can freeze in winter and damage the base or leak out unnoticed through small cracks. Our advice: fill the base with sand for maximum stability and safety.
