Product Description
TOOPRE TL-328 Wear Gauge for Narrow-Wide Chainrings
Monitor the wear condition of your drivetrain quickly and reliably with the TOOPRE TL-328 gauge. Specifically designed for single Narrow-Wide chainrings with alternating wide and narrow teeth, it allows you to check tooth wear simply by positioning the measuring tip between two teeth. Compact, lightweight and CNC-machined from aluminium, it is a practical tool for the preventive maintenance of your bike.

Checking Chainring Wear
Over the kilometres, repeated contact between the chain and the chainring gradually alters the tooth profile. The TOOPRE TL-328 gauge lets you monitor this wear by observing how its measuring tip positions itself in the gap between the chainring teeth.
How to Use the Gauge
- Clean the chainring if necessary to remove deposits that could interfere with the check.
- Position the measuring tip of the gauge in the gap between two compatible teeth of the Narrow-Wide chainring.
- Insert the gauge gently without forcing.
- Observe the depth to which the checking tip can penetrate.
- Compare the result with the indications below to assess the condition of the chainring.
Chainring in Good Condition
When the gauge does not descend fully to the bottom of the gap between the teeth and a clearly visible space remains, the checked profile is considered to be in an acceptable wear condition according to the operating principle of the tool.
Indication of a Worn Chainring
When the tip of the gauge reaches the bottom of the gap between the teeth, or when the remaining space becomes very small, this indicates significant wear of the checked profile. In this situation, the manufacturer recommends considering replacing the chainring and also checking the condition of the chain.
Tip: Carry out the check at several points around the chainring so as not to base your assessment on a single pair of teeth only.
CNC Aluminium Construction
- Single-piece aluminium alloy construction.
- Precision CNC machining.
- Thickness of approx. 2 mm.
- Internal cut-outs to reduce weight.
- Chamfered angles and contours.
- Shot-blasted surface.
- Blue anodised finish.
- Hole of approx. 2.9 mm for easy storage or hanging of the tool.
Preventive Drivetrain Maintenance
Regular checks of the chainring condition allow better monitoring of drivetrain wear. A heavily worn chainring can degrade performance with a new chain and accelerate wear on the various drivetrain components. This small gauge can easily be included in periodic bike checks.
