    The choice of pole is extremely important for cross-country skiing. Too short or too long will make it difficult to ski properly.

    For the skating technique:
    They must be big to maximise push-off
    There are two ways to calculate their length:
    Length of skating poles = Skier's shoulder
    or
    Length of skating poles = Skier's height* x 0.89
    The length of the poles will also depend on the skier's physical attributes.

    Alternative (or classic) cross-country ski poles are slightly smaller.

    Aluminium poles are solid, heavy and inexpensive - ideal for beginners.
