WHAT DO LINE RETRIEVE PER CRANK AND RATIO MEAN?
The line retrieve per crank of a carp fishing reel corresponds to the average length (in centimetres) of line picked up with every turn of the handle.
The ratio of a reel corresponds to the number of times the spool turns with every turn of the handle.
Example: For a ratio of 5.8:1, the spool spins 5.8Â times per crank
DRAG RATING
Fighting a carp puts a lot of strain on the reel. The latter must be able to withstand it while remaining reliable and accurate. Drag power is referred to in kg.
Our SPRY reel has 7 kg drag (8 kg for the 8000 version), which is plenty for fighting even the biggest specimens.
During a tough battle in which you have to drag the fish hard, you rarely need more than 3 kg.
WHAT'S THE BENEFIT OF A BAITRUNNER REEL?
A baitrunner reel allows you to regulate the drag between the drag at the start and the drag required during combat. You can move between one and the other very quickly by making the first crank turn.
You are therefore able to anticipate by regulating the drag rate for combat before the carp sets off.
