Who is this LJ150N life vest suitable for?
The LJ150 N self-inflating life vest + harness is suitable for a person weighing between 40 and 120 kg and with a waist circumference of between 60 and 120 cm.
Not suitable for children aged under 6.
How do you adjust your life vest to make it effective?
To do its job and help a person turn around in the event of a fall at sea, a life jacket must first and foremost be properly adjusted:
- the ventral strap must be closed and sufficiently tight
- the strap that passes between the legs must be fixed and sufficiently tight.
If the straps are not tightened, the life jacket’s turning performance will be reduced.

This life vest has been developed and validated in collaboration with the French Lifeboat Association (SNSM).
Since 2020, DECATHLON and the SNSM have been working together on all the development phases, from the initial specifications to the development of the prototypes and their approval at sea.
This life vest has been validated in the laboratory, on the water and in rescue situations both day and night.
How do you check your self-inflating life jacket before each trip?
It is advisable to check your life vest before going out to sea:
- Check the general condition of the vest (bladder, buckles, straps, zip). Make sure there are no signs of wear.
- Check the green indicator light on the trigger and the expiry date printed on it.
- Unscrew the gas cylinder and check that the cap is not pierced, that the cylinder is not corroded and check at least once a year that the weight corresponds to that indicated. If in doubt, change the cartridge.

We’ve added reinforcement around the trigger and gas cartridge to prevent any friction between the trigger and the bladder.
Check the watertightness of your life vest once a year
Check the seal by inflating it with air, using the mouthpiece. Check that it is inflated after 12 hours, then fold it according to the instructions
noted on the bladder. If there is any leakage or damage, replace it. Indicate the maintenance dates, including for accessories
in the table provided inside.
We recommend that you replace your life vest within 10 years of the date
of manufacture shown on the document inside the life vest.

A life vest that’s visible day and night
The visibility of an inflated life vest is essential during a rescue. The orange colour of the bladder is visible in a wide range of weather conditions (rain, fog, sun). And for night-time visibility, the position of the reflective strips has been optimised, taking into account the waiting position in the water.
There is a dedicated slot for attaching a flashlight. The flashlight is sold separately from the life vest and is fitted to the bladder (model code 8641191).
Efficient in a sailing kit
This self-inflating life vest floats a clothed adult. Sailing gear (watch jacket, overalls, boots) can trap a volume of air and limit the effectiveness of the turnaround.
The LJ150N is equipped with a bladder that makes it easy to turn an unconscious person on their back while wearing a sailing kit. This rotating movement quickly clears the airways.
Tested and approved according to a precise protocol with lifeguards at sea.
Can I rearm my LJ150N self-inflating life jacket?
Yes! Of course, if your life jacket has been pierced, it must be rearmed in the following order:
1. Remove the CO² tablet and the salt tablet
2. Replace the UML salt tablet (model code 8641190)
3. Replace the 33 gram CO² cartridge (model code 8589883)
If you do not follow this assembly sequence, there is a risk that the new cartridge will be knocked out if the salt tablet trigger system has been used previously.
