What is the Novadry label?
Novadry is Decathlon’s high-performance waterproofing label.
More than just a fabric, it is a dual-certified system that combines three-layer technology and high-quality assembly.
It provides effective protection against heavy rain, whilst allowing your body to breathe.
The result: moisture is wicked away, without letting in water, even under the most demanding conditions.
In what way is this jacket Novadry-certified?
This jacket is Novadry-certified as it meets both of the following requirements:
- A specific 3-layer component technology
- A certified waterproof assembly process
How waterproof is this jacket?
Waterproofing is measured in mm Schmerbers: the higher the value, the more waterproof the fabric.
At 25,000 Schmerbers, this jacket can withstand a 25-metre water column before moisture penetrates.
To guarantee this level of protection, it has been tested under simulated rainfall at 100 litres of water for 3 hours.
Score: reliable protection, even over long periods of heavy rain.
For which type of use?
Ideal for seasoned hikers, this waterproof jacket offers the perfect balance between protection from the weather and light weight. Designed to take on the elements without weighing you down, it keeps you comfortable and protected, even in the pouring rain.
What are Schmerbers?
The Schmerber rating indicates a fabric's resistance to water pressure: the higher the value, the more waterproof the fabric. With a rating of 25,000 Schmerbers, this jacket can withstand the pressure of a 25m water column. This ensures optimum protection even in heavy rain.
What is a membrane fabric?
A membrane fabric that is both waterproof and moisture-wicking. This jacket has a three-layer design. This means that the membrane is integrated between the outer and inner fabrics. This design guarantees both robustness and performance.
Why choose a breathable jacket?
The drawback of waterproof jackets is often their lack of breathability. They keep you dry on the outside, but trap humidity inside. To avoid this, our jacket uses a breathable fabric and has large side openings for better moisture management.
To what extent is this jacket breathable?
The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapour that passes through the fabric in 24h, in grams per sqm. The higher this value is, the more breathable the fabric. A performance rating of 15,000g/sqm/24h, corresponding to a highly breathable fabric, is ideal for walking in the mountains.
How do you wash this hiking jacket?
Close the zips, turn the jacket inside out and machine wash at 30°C. Use a small amount of detergent (preferably for waterproof garments) and run a second rinse to remove any residue. Wring out lightly to preserve the quality of the jacket.
How to restore the water-repellent properties?
There are three ways to reactivate water-repellent properties:
- Tumble dry the jacket for 15 minutes.
- Wash with our special detergent and apply the reactivator.
- Use the water-repellency reactivating spray.
