Product Description

The Ultegra XTD & XSD are Shimano's best-selling Big Pit/Surfcasting reels, and have been for many years. The compact 5500 models are supreme in their class, combining exceptional value for money with unquestionable performance. If you're the type of angler who fishes small environments, the Ultegra 5500 XTD, with its compact size and understated finish, deserves serious consideration. The compact size balances perfectly with lighter rods and is particularly suited to the short 9ft-11ft models that are now increasingly popular. It's also an excellent rod for barbel fishing with heavy sinkers and feeder fishing. If you need a compact reel for surfcasting long-range casting to balance a lightweight 80-120g rod, take a look at the silver/gunmetal Ultegra XSD, which will enhance your long-range casts without overpowering your selected rods. The combination of Shimano 's high manufacturing quality and X-SHIP technology results in the great smooth performance associated with the Ultegra XTD. And with hundreds of thousands in use in Europe, you can be sure that this reel will last a long time. Casting performance is maximized by the use of the slow-swing parallel body and, for even greater ease of use, the 5500 is equipped with the Instant Drag function which allows you to switch very quickly from a tight drag to a completely loose drag.
