The BR Middleton bridle is a leather snaffle bridle in Shetland and Pony size, made for smaller head shapes. It has an anatomically shaped headpiece, a combined noseband with flash strap and soft padding on the headpiece, noseband and browband. That way it sits quietly on your pony's head, even in daily use. Reins are not included.
About this bridle
Anyone who rides a pony or a Shetland knows the problem: a bridle in horse size is often just that bit too wide, too long and too heavy for a small head. The Middleton is drawn for exactly this. BR offers this model in Shetland and Pony size, with a cut tailored to smaller head shapes.
The headpiece is anatomically shaped. It follows the shape behind the ears instead of running over it as a straight band, so the pressure of the bridle is spread over a larger surface. The headpiece, noseband and browband are also softly padded. You notice that most on a pony that reacts sensitively behind the ears or across the nose.
The noseband is a combined noseband: a noseband with a flash strap beneath it. That flash runs under the bit and keeps the bit quieter in the mouth. The flash strap comes with a protective flap.
The fastenings are of the hidden type. The leather end tucks away neatly instead of sticking out, which gives a clean line and leaves fewer loose parts that can flap. Cream-coloured stitching runs along the straps and gives the whole a well-kept contrast, in the Oak/Silver version just as much as in Black/Silver.
The leather is supple and moulds to your pony's head over time. That keeps the bridle in place without you having to pull it tight. The model suits lessons, hacks and pony competitions, and works just as well as an everyday bridle at the yard.
